With students filling the halls with joy and laughter, the holiday season is approaching, and NDB brings the spirit with festive traditions. Seasonal celebrations began Thurs- day, December 4 with the annual holiday boutique, hosted in the dining hall.
And, yesterday, in the dining hall, the Tri- School Christmas concert was hosted with students singing and listening to traditional winter music.
As finals are starting up on Tuesday, December 16 and continuing for three days, it is important to calm nerves with the holiday spirit. These traditions hosted on campus are optional to attend, but highly encouraged, as they can promote spirit and foster class bonding. Celebrating the festive season before final exams can help students by reducing stress, providing a reward for hard work, offering a mental break from studying, and creating community through bonding between classmates and teachers.
Director of Student Life and Leadership Alisia Bergholm shared, “One of our traditions is hanging class-colored stockings on the main staircase. ASB and I fill them each day with candy canes for everyone to enjoy.”
She continued, “We also decorate campus during the Thanksgiving break, so that students and staff return to a festive, holiday-themed campus.”
Festive traditions during high school help make the school year feel more special and meaningful for everyone as they foster a sense of cultural understanding, while creating lasting memories. By engaging in these traditions and participating in holiday-themed spirit week, Tigers can create memories that will last a lifetime.
As the semester winds down and finals approach, NDB’s holiday celebrations remind students and teachers of the warmth and unity that make the community so special. These events bring students together to reflect, relax and spread joy before heading into winter break.
