This year, on May 9th, the annual Senior Brunch and Prayer Service was held for seniors and their parents to enjoy a nice meal and connection with God. Since this event tends to fall close to Mother’s Day, it is often attended by mothers and their daughters. The attire that many chose to wear included spring floral dresses or just simple casual wear to show off the spring brunch vibe.
The event began with head of school Meredith Essalat saying a couple of words to the senior class, following with a prayer talk by Ms. Jobin and later a presentation of the class memorabilia by the current ASB. Some of the memorabilia that was presented by ASB was the class jersey, a blue candle, the class flag and sunflowers. For the food, Epicurean provided a delicious brunch with foods like french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, assorted fruits, yogurts and many deserts as well.
Senior Cecily Rambod was one of the many speakers to speak at the brunch and also one of the most inspirational. Cecily talked about the relationship she has with her mother and shared with the senior class.
“I loved giving the talk with my mom. It was something that meant a lot to both her and me. It allowed us to reflect on our relationship, how much it has grown and how we have changed, both as individuals and as mother and daughter,” shared Rambod.
Having a close relationship with your mom is one of the most beautiful relationships a daughter could have. Mothers are there to support their daughters through all of their major milestones, including graduation which is a big milestone coming up for the senior class.
Cecily also reflects on why the brunch was so special not only for the class, but also for herself and her mother.
“Not only did giving the talk at the brunch [mean a lot], but having the ability to reflect on my time at Notre Dame, and how high school has changed me and my relationships. I loved being able to share such a special event with my mom, and I loved the reflection,” Rambod shared.
After all the talks were given, the seniors were released to have a delicious brunch and connect with fellow classmates. This event is such a memorable one that is highly anticipated by seniors, as it gives them a chance to bond with their mothers before they graduate. As the senior sharks time here at NDB comes to an end, the Senior Brunch allowed mothers and daughters to grow a special bond and reflect on their time before high school ends.
