It is a beloved tradition for high school students to travel with friends and family during summer break to celebrate the end of the school year and make memories.

Many NDB seniors plan to visit Honolulu after school lets out for their senior trip. However, tropical hotels fill up fast, so it is important to make reservations months in advance to secure the perfect vacation.
“I am going to Hawaii, Tahoe, Colorado Springs, Wisconsin and San Diego this summer,” said Senior Finley Wilke-Highland. “Definitely get to the airport early so you have time to get through everything. I try to pack light …so that I have space to buy stuff when I’m on vacation. I love traveling with friends because … we can experience different things together.”
Some students enjoy traveling internationally, visiting a variety of countries in Asia, Europe and more. Exploring other countries is an amazing way to experience new and diverse cultures. While this kind of travel can be expensive, it is a unique way to experience the world, making lasting memories and connections with those you travel with.
“[This summer,] I am going to Paris and Italy … I am going with my family just as a fun family vacation, celebrating my senior year,” said Senior Madelyn Eckert. “I’m hoping to enjoy it and take a lot of cute photos!”
As gas prices continue to rise, factor in the distance of your closer-by vacations to spend wisely. Local vacation spots include enjoying the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, soaking up some beach time in Half Moon Bay or visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. All these options are less than two hours away, allowing a great budget on gas and travel overall.
Wherever people choose to travel during their summer holidays, it is important to prioritize safety. Before leaving for a new destination, it is imperative to follow all health guidelines.
