During lunch or after school, many students don’t just eat and socialize; they head to club meetings happening around campus. School clubs are a great way to give students a chance to explore their interests, meet new people and feel more connected to their school community. From academic teams to creative and service-based clubs, these activities play an important role in shaping student life, too. These clubs give students opportunities to help others while supporting important events and causes connected to the school.
One popular club at Notre Dame is the Pre-Medicine Club. Our school’s Pre-Medicine Club is important because it gives students interested in healthcare early exposure to the medical field. Through guest speakers such as doctors and nurses, students learn about real career paths, required education and what working in medicine is actually like. Service projects, like writing cards for hospitalized children, are also fun and meaningful activities that the Pre-Medicine Club offers. Lots of students were able to sign up for this club during the Club Fair at the beginning of the year.
Another club NDB students created is the Key Club. This club has meetings every other week and is one of the most active clubs on campus. It’s centered around community service, leadership and giving back to the community. Members take part in hands-on activities like decorating pillowcases for military members and participating in a wide range of fundraising events that support local and global causes. The club constantly offers community service opportunities, which is a great way to earn your required NDB hours. More than just volunteering, Key Club creates a sense of community and shows students that service can be meaningful, creative and enjoyable.
Last but not least, the Yearbook Club is another fun one. Using your creativity and ideas to create the annual yearbook is an activity that definitely takes time, but it is incredibly rewarding. Members work together to design layouts, take photos, write captions and capture the memories that define the school year. The club gives students hands-on experience in photography, design, and storytelling while allowing them to leave a lasting mark on the school.
As we can tell, NDB’s clubs around campus all have different aspects and themes. Clubs are a great way to get involved, meet new people, and explore your interests heading into college.
