March Madness is the annual National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) college basketball tournament that occurs annually every March. In past years, people would mainly focus on the men’s tournament, filling out brackets and picking their favorite underdogs to win it all. However, this year, fans are more excited and are paying more attention to the women’s bracket due to superstars who are currently playing.
Caitlin Clark is a very special and important player in the game. She attends the University of Iowa and recently broke the record for most points scored in a Division I college basketball career. This record stands for men and women. She has scored over 3,600 points and will enter the 2024 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft at the end of the season.
Judea Skies “Juju” Watkins plays at the University of Southern California. She averages 27.8 points per game and set a record of 51 points in a win against Stanford University, which is the most points scored by any Division I player in a game this season. Watkins is still a freshman and will continue to play for the Trojans.
Angel Reese was a multi-sport athlete growing up. Now, she plays basketball at Louisiana State University. She led her team to a national championship victory last year. The Southeastern Conference coaches voted Reese the league’s 2024 Player of the Year and after this season, she will enter the 2024 WNBA draft.
Lastly, Cameron Brink currently plays for Stanford University. She is a forward, but is versatile on the court with her ball handling, shooting and defensive skills. Brink was named both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Pac-12 Conference in 2024. Brink will also enter the WNBA in 2024.
