The most anticipated spirit event of the school year rolled around on Friday, March 24th. Aquacades has been a tradition at NDB for decades and continue to bring ecstatic energy and joy to the whole community.
This year’s Aquacades theme was Famecades, and each class represented a different famous award show. The freshmen had The Oscars with rock ‘n roll music, sophomores had the CMAs with country music, the juniors had The Met Gala with R&B, and for their final Aquacades, the seniors had the Teen Choice Awards with pop music.
“Stay spirited and don’t care what other people think, because at the end of the day, you only have Aquacades once in your life,” said Keira Kennon who is a part of the winning class.
Along with the overall win from the sharks, many routines amazed the judges, and won their category. One of these routines was the jaguars duet swim routine. This routine featuring Sammi Bareet and Reese Bohnert brought style and energy to the water.
“We were both super happy, and we wanted to go to the front of where they [the winners] were announced, and we were just super happy. We were jumping and screaming, and it was such a fun moment in our lives,” said Reese Bohnert.
Along with performances, we saw major talent, and artistic ability brought to the backdrops this year. The vipers took home the win for their backdrop with the jaguars coming in second. Their backdrop took inspo from the 2000’s magazines, really giving the backdrop a unique yet outstanding look.
“We kind of tried to incorporate a lot of different things, but we did kind of a 2000s kind of magazine vibe as our beginning thing, and then a runway, kind of red carpet idea too,” said junior Chelsea Johnson who was one of the artists behind the backdrop.
This year’s Aquacades had so much spirit, and style for the judges and students. After weeks of hard work from all the classes, the senior sharks took the win for the second year in a row!
