With leadership board applications right around the corner, many freshmen, sophomores and juniors submit their applications. In anticipation of the interview process, students are encouraged to reflect on their strengths, personal experiences, and their goals for contributing to the NDB community.
NDB offers eight leadership board positions, which include the Ambassador Board, Link Crew Board (as well as the general Link Crew), the National Honor Society Board (NHS), California Scholarship Federation Board (CSF), Hallmarks in Action Board (HIA), The Coalition for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and the Marketing and Communications internship (MarComm). Each of these groups plays a unique role in shaping student life and creating a more welcoming, supportive and engaging environment.
The Ambassador Board helps students develop their leadership skills and highlights NDB’s visibility to prospective students during events. These events include Open House, Notre Dame Night, shadow days and classroom visits.
Link Crew and the Link Crew Board develop their leadership and plan many fun and exciting events for freshmen, including freshman orientation, Link-O-Week Haunted House, and Spring Fling.
The Hallmarks in Action Board creates opportunities for everyone to live out the Notre Dame Hallmarks. They run events like the Laudato Si Day, Blessing of the Animals and liturgies. This board helps students develop leadership and public speaking skills.
The Coalition promotes the culture of DEIB within our school. It highlights lots of clubs and organizes events and activities for the community to participate in throughout the year.
The Marketing and Communications Internship gives students a year-long experience that gives them a perspective on marketing and communications and helps publish content on NDB’s media channels.
California Scholarship Federation is a statewide honor society. Members help plan the winter formal alongside the NHS board and assist with the process of CSF applications every semester.
The National Honor Society works with the CSF board to plan the winter formal and helps with the annual induction ceremony for those admitted to the National Honor Society. They also host mock elections and stream live events.
These leadership positions are a great way to stay or get involved in NDB’s community in a variety of ways, by providing valuable opportunities. Whether it is by speaking with new or prospective students, organizing events, promoting the school, or speaking about inclusivity, each board allows students to make a meaningful impact.
Being on one of these boards, it ultimately serves as an opportunity for students to grow, challenge themselves, and take on meaningful roles within the school. They develop new skills like teamwork, communication, organization, and problem-solving.
The application forms are due on Monday, April 27, and interviews are scheduled to take place throughout Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 15. After the interviews commence, board members will be accepted on May 18th. Students are allowed to apply to more than one board and be accepted into more than one board, but are only allowed to be on one board.
Regardless of the outcomes, applying for a leadership position is a valuable experience that allows students to reflect and take initiative within their school community.
