Biology Club
NDB’s Biology Club is a welcoming and safe space where people can get excited about biology, the basis for understanding life. Their ultimate goal is to highlight the importance of scientific research in society.
President: Sophie Hu ‘27
“My favorite part about being club president is coming up with an idea and making it a reality. Also because I get to meet so many cool people who are as passionate about biology as I am.”
Nature Club
The Nature Club discusses the marvel of nature. They talk about the wonders of different kinds of animals, and ways to help the environment.
President: Clara Preuss ‘28
“…, with the steady progression of climate change I want to educate people more about the natural world, especially native animals and plants. Because when you know about these animals, you know when they disappear, so it’s important to stay knowledgeable.”
Self-Defense Club
The purpose of the Self-Defense Club is to teach people how to protect themselves. It can be a scary world out there, especially for a woman. This club will teach different fighting techniques to get out of a bad situation.
Co-President: Lizzy Scott ‘27
“I volunteer at a women’s shelter, and these are women that have been domestically abused… So I think it’s really important, especially for women, to learn how to protect themselves.”
Rainbow Club
The purpose of the Rainbow Club is to provide a safe space for everyone at NDB! They serve as a place for NDB’s LGBTQ+ community to get together and feel connected. Anyone is welcome to visit and be part of the community.
Co-President: Elyse Taketa ‘28
“It shows that we have a safe space in an environment where sometimes people feel like they might not have enough breathing room.”
Creative Writing Club
The Creative Writing Club allows members to express themselves. As a writer, embracing diversity, and listening to different stories of people is crucial. The club is a space to develop as writers.
Co-President: Amy Sun ‘27
“I think it’s important because nowadays, most people emphasize academic writing… which kind of lacks some creativity. I think creative writing is important because we can practice our language and approach writing in a more artistic sense.”
Badminton Club
Badminton Club’s purpose is to give those who are interested in badminton a
chance, whether or not they have played before. Their goal is to simply have fun!
President: Shanntal Amurao ‘27
“This is actually my third year being the club president, because I started the club when I was a freshman I wanted to start it with my friends because I just had so much fun playing badminton, especially during P.E.”
