Throughout the years, NDB has formed many clubs and organizations. One of the most important groups that has been created is Link Crew.
Link Crew helps with introducing incoming freshmen, planning fun spirit events and being mentors. While most students join the organization, some students strive for more and decide to join the Link Crew Board, like Brooke Morse, one of the core members of the board.
During the school year, Link Crew assists with planning many fun events, such as Link-O-Ween, which was hosted earlier in the school year, and consisted of the Link Crew members dressing up in scary costumes, and accessorizing themselves in fake blood, props and other scary makeup looks. After dressing up, they transform the basement into an after-school haunted house for the freshmen, as one of their first spirit events! This has been an ongoing tradition and Link Crew looks forward to putting together this experience every year.
As a member of Link Crew, it is not all fun events and spirit planning. There are many responsibilities that come with it. One of the members of Link Crew, sophomore Audrey Johnston, spoke on the daily responsibilities that come with being a part of the crew. “I think it’s important that they know that even though it is super fun it is also a time commitment, and so you have to definitely have time for it. My favorite Link Crew activity is the haunted house because it is super fun to set up and do,” said Johnston.
Brooke Morse spoke on how to balance day to day schoolwork along with extracurriculars. “Balancing Link Crew Board and school work is not difficult to do at all. I take multiple AP classes, and also participate in other extracurriculars inside and outside NDB, and I’ve found it totally manageable to balance,” said Morse. Although it may be easy to balance extracurriculars, that does not mean there are no other responsibilities to keep up with. Morse stated, “A major responsibility that I found myself taking up was helping freshmen find their classes, and making sure they knew their way around NDB.”
As the seniors move on to college, it is crucial that new responsible students step up to become the next Link Crew members. As many people have said, Link Crew has many benefits. Not only is it something colleges like to see on applications, but it familiarizes members with students of all classes and ages, creating what could be long term bonds.
