There have been recent changes that have come up at NDB. More specifically, with the campus. Notre Dame has undergone a series of changes on campus, some of which have caused parts of it to be closed off to the students. The two main parts of campus that are being focused on are the rooms near the small gym and the upcoming STEM lab.
Margo Gallegos, a Junior at NDB, is a student who is at school more than most people due to golf practice, and being at school after dismissal to go to the weight room. She has been around Notre Dame more often, leaving her to notice more things than people who are only there for the usual 7 hours. “I noticed a lot of random people walking around in the hallways who have been painting murals and working on certain locations, and I noticed that there were a lot of people working near the gym near where the new STEM lab is going to be. The most memorable thing is the new butterflies and flowers that run down the old Spanish wing hallway,” said Margo.
The new Butterfly Grove is a large part of what NDB has been working hard on recently. Butterfly Grove is a school for children with mild to moderate learning differences, which has been put into a section of NDB. This school has seven students and ten educators who work with the kids. They have put a lot of work into creating a safe and educational learning environment and so far it has been working perfectly!
NDB sent out a couple emails stating that there would be a large announcement happening on August 20th, and hosted a large group of people in the Father Downey Garden to announce the creation of a new development on campus. Ms. Essalat announced that there would be a new STEM lab opening in the next year or two. She also shared that NDB has managed to raise over eight million dollars! This is a huge milestone for NDB, and in order to make this process happen, donations are heavily encouraged. Additionally, there is the option to have people’s names put on the new desks, rooms, and equipment that is being put into the new labs if you donate a certain amount of money.
