As we dive deeper into spring, NDB’s new round of spring sports has begun. Our Beach volleyball team has been practicing out on the courts every Tuesday through Thursday after school since February and has since been playing both games and tournaments. Beach volleyball is the perfect opportunity for our indoor volleyball players to continue their skills during the spring.
Our varsity team is currently undefeated, and team member Piper Ventura shared her thoughts on how the season has been going so far.
“I feel like everyone on the team has improved both on and off the court. We have been able to grow closer to each other, which has helped us play as well. We have also gone undefeated so far this season which is really exciting,” shared Ventura
Every Wednesday, the varsity team plays games against other high schools in their division. Ventura shared how this schedule helps the team stay on track with a balance of school and sports.
“I think since the sport is during the spring season, the coaches know to take into account the larger workload that we are getting from teachers. Since we only have to play three days a week, it helps with management a lot,” said Ventura.
Regular season matches typically end in early May, with any championship matches concluding at the end of May. On the team as well is sophomore Amelia MacDonnell, who shared how she and the team have been able to improve throughout the season.
“I think we have been able to improve mostly by growing closer to each other,” shared MacDonnell. “Having close relationships with the team on and off the court can really play into how well we work together. Overall, I think we have all grown so much together over the last few months.”
As beach volleyball comes to an end, be sure to come out and support our tigers during some of their last games on Wednesdays. For those who haven’t played or are interested in playing, be sure to check it out next season!
