With the Super Bowl in early February and the Winter Olympics coming to a close, that only means one thing: baseball season is back!
With spring training already starting, all teams are getting prepared for the long season ahead with one thing in mind: the World Series ring. Although the World Series is far away, spring training puts the baseball season into play and ultimately sets the stage for the season itself. People can see which teams look strong, which ones look weak, and who to really watch out for, based on the pitching, hitting and defense.
“I’m gonna throw it out there, I’m a Dodger fan, so I’m ready to see how our team looks in this next coming season,” said NDB Counselor Esperanza Flores. “I haven’t really been following up with spring training on how it’s going, but I feel like you never know. I know the Giants are always up there with the Dodgers … They always give us a battle. I’m just looking forward to watching some good baseball.”
Now, the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the World Series two times in a row, in 2024 and 2025. This was a monumental achievement, as a team had not won back-to-back World Series since the Yankees in 1998, where they actually won three in a row.
With new signings and star Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers are certainly a team to be reckoned with and, although this is a hard thing for Bay Area fans to hear, it is an undeniable fact that the back-to-back champions need to be watched out for this coming baseball season.
When the spring training season ends, the regular season will begin. This will begin on Wednesday, March 25, where the record, with all of the teams’ wins and losses, will start. These wins and losses, even the first ones, will eventually impact their status in their league and eventually, their chance at the coveted ring.
“Yes. Always,” said Dodger baseball fan, Rafael Merino, about whether he was excited about baseball season coming up.
For Bay Area fans, the San Francisco Giants and Oracle Park on late Friday nights are to be looked forward to. While the Giants have not been in the World Series since 2014, Oracle Park will certainly be visited over the course of the coming months to watch some good baseball take place.
This coming season will certainly be one to watch with exciting new signings and plenty of great night games for fans to enjoy.
