As the winter sports season is starting back up, a whole new set of sports starts. Sports such as basketball, wrestling, and soccer are finally coming back into NDB’s packed agenda. The players are buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season, and players such as Cat Dorf, a senior at NDB, can’t wait to be back.
Wrestling may seem like a fast-paced and rough sport to some, but the sportsmanship and team bonding are off the charts, both on and off the mat. Especially with this being Dorf’s final year of wrestling, she’s having an extra emotional last season with her teammates, making sure they cherish their last season together. The relationship she has built with her teammates is undoubtedly one of the strongest due to the fact that they spend so much time together.
“Honestly, it depends on the day, sometimes practice can be rough. I’m not excited for all the sprints, but most days I’m grateful to even have the opportunity to wrestle, so I try to maintain a positive attitude,” says Dorf when asked about practice starting back up.
As it’s her last season, Dorf says she is feeling emotional about leaving not only her teammates behind, but also leaving behind all of the memories that she’s made over the years playing wrestling. She emphasizes that wrestling is not only a sport, but it’s a part of her life that she will always carry with her.
“I’m looking forward to cheering on my teammate, getting further than I did last year, and pushing my body. I wish I had started sooner, but I am very grateful to have had this experience,” says Dorf.
