The 2025 World Series was filled with excitement between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. From an 18-inning game and many defensive plays to save runs, both teams exhibited great determination, all leading up to game 7 on November 1, 2025.
In game 7, the Blue Jays took the lead early, and it wasn’t until the 9th inning that bench player Miguel Rojas tied it up 4-4. Then, Yoshinobu Yamamoto came in to pitch in the bottom of the 9th, where he not only pitched a complete game in game 2, but he also threw a couple of days later in game 6, pitching 6 innings.
“I thought he was amazing. He is definitely one of the most amazing pitchers I’ve ever seen,” said senior Rebecca Welte, who has been a Dodger fan since she was a little girl. “It was a very tough series, and I think it kind of just proves how good we are as a team.”
Yamamoto’s performance sent the game to the 10th inning, and finally, in the 11th inning, Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays’ Stadium, went quiet because catcher Will Smith hit a home run to put the Dodgers in the lead 5-4.
It then came down to Yamatoto, a broken bat from Alejandro Krik, and a double play to make the Dodgers the first team since the New York Yankees from 1998 to 2000 to win the World Series two times in a row.
Despite the Dodgers winning in this eventful Game 7, the Blue Jays haven’t won the World Series in 32 years. All the fans had their heads in their hands as the Dodgers ran out to celebrate on the field, and the Blue Jays dugout was silent.
“I feel so sad for them, especially since Vladimir Gurror Jr wanted to give the ring to his dad, and so he was crying in the dugout after,” said Welte.
The 2025 World Series was an overall eventful and emotional experience, as the Dodgers held their championship parade on Monday, November 3, culminating in a celebration at Dodger Stadium. Not only were there smiles, but there were also tears, as long-time Dodger Clayton Kershaw started his career with the Dodgers and ended his career with a World Series ring.
