The NDB water polo team’s senior night took place on the 28th of October, celebrating the five seniors on the team and recognizing their skill and accomplishments this season, and the last three.
The event started with the senior ceremony at 5:00 pm. This was a time for coaches, parents and friends to support all the players in their last game of the season. After speeches, hugs, and lots of pictures the game finally started!
“This [game] was really fun, it was really fun seeing our whole team work together and take this win, it was amazing to watch,” shared freshman Charlotte Wicks.

Seniors Gabrielle Goldfarb, Catherine Dorf, Sophie Kistler, Emma Kistler and Clara Putnam all took to the pool alongside their teammates in a thrilling game against Mercy High School in Burlingame, with the score ending up 11-3 for an NDB win. This was an intense game with a lot of highlight moments, including senior Gabrielle Goldfarb making the final shot with one second to spare.

This was a tough match between two very skilled teams, but what stood out more than the play were the memories and symbolism behind the ball.
“It was so much fun. We won 11 to three against our rivals, mercy, and we played really good together. It is definitely a bittersweet moment, but I had a lot of fun this season with the team, and I will never forget it,” remarked senior Sophie Kistler.

While sports may cause emotions to run high, rivalry between the teams was put aside to keep this game nostalgically positive, as many of the players are acquaintances and even good friends.
“It was an amazing night. I love all my girls, and I will always remember this season as one of the best I’ve ever had,” shared Mercy senior Mikayla Lindner. “I will never forget it because of how much I cried and the headache I’m gonna have tomorrow because of it, but it’s ok because I love these girls to pieces.”
This game was the last official game of the season and the very last time many of the seniors will ever play water polo. This memorable end of being an athlete for the seniors and their families led to many tears and hugs as the evening progressed.

“It has been great to work with the seniors these past seasons. I have really enjoyed watching all of them grow as teammates, and I am really excited that we got to end the season off with a great win,” commented Varsity water polo coach Scott Ray.
Congratulations to all the NDB water polo seniors as they start this new chapter in their athletic and academic lives, as well as a well-done to the entire water polo team for a successful 2025 season.
