On Tuesday, October 28th, NDB tennis team wrapped up its season with a special Senior Night celebration at the College of San Mateo courts, honoring the graduating players. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches from teammates and coaches, cheers and spirit as teammates played their final matches together.
Leading up to this event, the JV and varsity juniors worked together to make the celebration truly unforgettable. Players decorated the courts with individual posters, organized baskets and planned a small ceremony to recognize each senior. Each player contributed in their own way, adding thoughtful details that reflected how close the team had become playing with one another over the years.
Junior Cadence Goblirsch said, “We put a lot of preparation into Senior Night because we wanted it to be really special. We had meetings, whether in person, over FaceTime or in our group chat to plan out everything we wanted to do for the seniors and make sure everyone was on the same page. Once everything as organized, it was just a matter of making the goodie baskets, posters, speeches and getting flowers of course! Senior Night was a huge success, and I am so glad we were able to honor the seniors in such a special way.”
After years of practices, matches and lasting friendships, this celebration marked the end of an important chapter, reminding the seniors of how much they have grown.
“I had such a great senior night. It was so bittersweet saying goodbye to a sport that I’ve loved playing all four years of high school and I’ve met some of my best friends through that sport so I will always be grateful for my experience on the team and all of the memories that I have created with those people. It’s crazy to think that my time with the team is over and that all of the seniors are saying goodbye, but I know it’s just the start of like the next chapter of our lives,” shared senior Lily Logan.
The tennis team also had new coaches and while they only got to spend one season with the seniors, they still made connections and memories, supporting them on and off the court.
Assistant Varsity Tennis Coach, Richie Sarwal, shared, “My favorite part about senior night was seeing the support and love that you all have for one another. This is a group of girls that care for their teammates and it is that kindness that will carry each and every one of you this life.”
This night was incredibly successful in honoring the seniors’ dedication and time on the team. While this part of their high school journey comes to a close, they will never forget how they were recognized and appreciated.
