From small habits to big decisions, our parents help shape who we become. From the start, parents teach their children new traditions, right from wrong and set examples. Over time, these lessons shape our personalities and values, even as we get into adulthood.
One of the most important lessons taught is the significance of values, respect and kindness to one another. These key characteristics in a person are what influence their future. Whether that be school, work or social life. What we are taught by our parents has an extreme impact.
Ms. Tauskey shared two things that her parents taught her that she will never forget.

“One is they taught me to say ‘may I have something’ instead of ‘can I have something.’ The second is my mother would say to me ‘would you like A or would you like B’ and I would say ‘I don’t care’ she would always say ‘I didn’t ask if you cared, I asked what you wanted.’”
Sophomore Kelly Bordrick shared the biggest lesson her parents have taught her.
“The most important lesson my parents have taught me is how important it is to be kind to one another, no matter what”.

Ms.Cambe shared a lesson that has stuck with her forever.
“To treat everyone with kindness regardless of their role in life. My dad was a janitor, my mom was a waitress and they really instilled in me that it doesn’t matter where you are in the social class because everyone deserves to be treated with kindness”.
Freshman Kaia Scoff shared the importance of honesty.

“The biggest lesson my parents taught me was to always be honest. They taught me that honesty is always important no matter what”.
Our parents teach us almost everything we know, and those lessons stick with us. Next time you are maybe upset or annoyed with your parents just remember all the lessons they taught you and will continue to teach you everyday.
