IIn the days leading up to Christmas, the phrase “Marty Supreme Christmas Day” may have been heard by you. This past Christmas, a new movie starring Timothee Chalamet called “Marty Supreme” was released in theaters. This movie is set in 1950’s New York City, following the journey of Marty Mouser, a man in his young twenties aspiring to be a professional table tennis player.
This movie seemed to grab the attention of the press and public largely. This was because of their advertising. Throughout the weeks leading up to the release the movie’s PR team as well as Chalamet himself advertised the movie in great ways. Some of these included an orange blimp, pop-up shops with Marty Supreme jackets and even having The Sphere is Las Vegas changed to look like an orange ping-pong ball.
While many believed due to the summary that was given about this movie that it would mostly follow ping-pong, the film initially didn’t spark much interest. But through this advertising, especially Chalamet’s personal involvement the movie became a long awaited watch.
This movie is rated R due to some sexually explicit content and language. While it may not be one that you want to see with your parents it is a really fun watch with friends. This film moves the audience’s emotions from suspense, sadness, romance and worry.
Throughout the two and a half hours that his movies stretches, the viewers are constantly stimulated by the different situations that main character Marty seems to get himself into. With some very humorous actors like Timothee Chalamet, Tyler the Creator, Odessa A’zion, and many more. This film combines the genres of comedy, action and romance creating a thrilling and entertaining story. Marty Supreme rated an 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and increased Timothee Chalamet’s publicity as an actor even more.
If you are looking for a hilariously entertaining movie to see in theaters with friends this absolutely is the one to watch.
