Students create lists, plans and action items to keep themselves motivated and consistent.
As we settle into the new year, it is common to create resolutions and goals for the year ahead. Often, these goals highlight an area a person wants to improve on from the previous year. NDB students shared what they’re “leaving behind” in 2025 and what they hope to change in the new year.
“One of the things I’m leaving in 2025 is like staying up late for homework because I really need to prioritize my sleep, especially because I got sick a lot last semester, because I kept not sleeping. [I’m going to] probably set timers while I’m doing my homework, and like cutting myself off at a certain time so I don’t overwork myself too.” – Molly Hipps ’29“[What I’m leaving in 2025 is] saving work till the last minute. Like the very like night before something is due to finish it, and then having to stay up late because you needed to get it done, and then just not having time. I’m gonna try to get my work done when I get home, rather than sitting in my bed for like, an hour, or doing other stuff, and taking forever. I think I’m gonna be able to get more sleep, which is gonna help me a lot, because we need sleep, and gonna help me get into better habits for the year and learn to manage my time.” – Mia Zeldin ’28
“Well, what I’m leaving in 2025 is a TikTok. I ended up deleting some of my social media, in hopes for new, clean, fresh starts from that. I’ve been setting, like, reminders and stuff for me to do my exercise, and I’ve been planning out my days recently, and I’ve been trying to leave like a 30 minute slot for me to do my exercise, because usually my excuse is I’m too busy.” – Lizzy Scott ’27
“So far, the start of the year has been stressful with college apps, but I think now that we’re in second semester, I’m a little less stressed because I have all my applications submitted. [What everyone should leave in 2025 is] probably like going on their phone so much, especially when there’s so much homework to do, or before bed. I feel like I need to stop going on my phone as much. I think just give myself screen time.” – Jeanne Dubuc ’26With new goals and resolutions, these NDB students are well prepared to begin the new semester and 2026 with a strong start.
