Christmas inevitably has a special “vibe” to it, which of course includes the food. When thinking about Christmas foods or drinks, what comes to mind is usually hot chocolate, peppermint, mashed potatoes and more. Different kinds of food fit the Christmas spirit and go well with the time of year and this ultimately highlights the best Christmas food for the most wonderful time of the year.
“Hot chocolate,” said freshman Leela Advani about her favorite Christmas food. “[The drink] makes everything better.”
Food can very easily shape a holiday, but it all depends on the person, as one person’s “Christmas food” may not be the same as another’s.
“My favorite Christmas food are these breadsticks that my parents make and they’re like twisted and they have parmesan cheese on them,” said junior Lilly Lauritzen. “I think [the food] brings family and friends together, which is really important for the Christmas spirit. And it can help strengthen community and have a sense of home.”
Hot chocolate on a cold night or mashed potatoes with the family resonates with the Christmas spirit and can inevitably create that spirit.
