Calling all freshmen: The in-depth Aquacades explanation you’ve been waiting for

What is Aquacades?

To a freshman, Aquacades can seem daunting. Confusion is usually the common theme among the freshmen, since an in-depth explanation is not given. So simply put, it is a big rally!

How does it work?

Each class has six performances: Solo deck, duet deck, group deck with 5–8 performers, solo swim, duet swim and group swim. In each category, all classes compete.

Preparation advice:

The key to Aquacades is starting early. Gather props and plan costumes ahead of time because these tasks should not be left for the last minute. Preparation makes everything run smoothly.

Scoring:

Each of the six performance categories awards first through fourth place. These rankings, given by alumnae judges, along with backdrop scores and yearly spirit points, determine the winner.

Important dates:

Full dress rehearsal is April 19. Backdrops are due April 23 in the dining room, followed by a student rehearsal that evening, open for parents to watch. Official Aquacades is April 24!

Themes:

“FameCades”centers on major entertainment events: the Teen Choice Awards (Sharks/Pop), Met Gala (Vipers/R&B), Country Music Awards (Jaguars/Country) and Oscars (Panthers/Rock).
