Senior Shea Hanson (on the left) playing volleyball before the pandemic.

I really hope we will be able to get there next year. If not, you know, that’ll be really sad, but it’s better to stay safe and healthy than risk having a bunch of people sick.

The Catalyst (TC): What are the plans for the volleyball team this year due to COVID-19?

Shea Hanson (SH): Because of COVID, we do not have a season right now. If everything goes according to plan and we stay in the red zone with everyone social distancing, sanitized, and whatnot, we will have tryouts in December/January. We will hopefully have a season in early 2021.

TC: Have there been any requirements for you in terms of attending workouts or practices?

SH: No, because of COVID our 20 workouts are no longer required, but I know all the people on the team are mainly playing club or staying active in their own way. Everybody is still getting exercise and staying in shape.

TC: What are your hopes for your senior year playing volleyball despite the restrictions due to the global pandemic?

SH: Well, personally I’m just trying to stay hopeful that we have a volleyball season, because I know speaking for the fellow seniors, we all want to have our senior night. I really hope we will be able to get there next year. If not, you know, that’ll be really sad, but it’s better to stay safe and healthy than risk having a bunch of people sick.
