While NDB takes pride in its all-girls community, they also have the opportunity to meet their Tri-School brothers and sisters from Serra HS and Mercy B through select academic courses. NDB offers four Tri-School classes, including Sports Management and AP Art History during Block 1 and Sports Medicine and Video Production during Block 2.
This year, NDB’s Sports Management and AP Art History are the newest Tri-School courses.
These electives allow students from the three campuses the opportunity to explore academic topics that differ from their regular curriculum and pursue a field of study that aligns with their passions and even future career paths.
During the summer, teachers had the opportunity to adjust their curriculum to fit a more diverse class of students.
Second-year Sports Management teacher Kate Mahoney has embraced the opportunity to teach a co-ed class. Her curriculum emphasizes the need for diversity in a male-dominated field, highlighting significant women and people of color who have revolutionized the sports management industry.
Tri-School has proven to not only showcase a variety of enriching classes, but also highlight the strength of the NDB community. The change of environment, with the addition of new classmates from different schools, pushes students out of their comfort zone, shaping new, stronger bonds between Tri-School students.
“I think it’s a fun new opportunity to meet and work with people outside of my class. I’ve been enjoying being able to show them how our school functions and our values,” said senior Reese Lancaster.
There are many classes offered at NDB to take advantage of the Tri-School program. Between the three schools, a strong community has been created, built on the foundation of education.
