One of the most popular American holidays is Thanksgiving, a day celebrated every year on the last Thursday of November. This is a day to be grateful for the blessings in people’s lives and typically involves eating traditional foods such as turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and more. The Catalyst interviewed NDB students to discover their favorite Thanksgiving foods.

“My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes because I make it every year,” said senior Ciara Kingham, “And I found a recipe from Martha Stewart and they are so delicious,”

Zoe Hart ’26 (The Catalyst / Lauren Zerella)

“My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes and gravy because my mom makes the best I’ve ever had and they’re really tasty,” agreed junior Milan Pineda.

“My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes with gravy in it, and we make a little volcano in my family and put it in the middle of the mashed potatoes, which is really fun,” said Zoe Hart, a freshman.

Natalie Nootbaar ’25 (The Catalyst / Lauren Zerella)

“My favorite Thanksgiving food is apple pie because, when it is done right, the textures of the crust and the crunchiness of the apple into its soft inside, with the right amount of cinnamon, makes it spectacular,” said sophomore Natalie Nootbaar.

Whether students prefer the main course or a dessert, Thanksgiving dinner has food everyone can appreciate.
