NDB Volleyball: Q&A with Kelly Schackel
The Catalyst interviewed senior Kelly Schackel where she reflected on playing volleyball as a senior and how her last season has been.
The Catalyst (TC): How has your volleyball season been this year?
Kelly Schackel (KS): I would say it was really good. Fortunately, we did get a volleyball season which I’m super grateful that it did happen. But we did only get to play three games, and I could only attend two, so that was a little disappointing. Overall, we went undefeated and it was really good.
TC: What was your favorite part of the season, despite it being short, and the pandemic?
KS: I really liked senior night. I thought the underclassmen did a really great job with putting it together. I know that the seniors weren’t really knowing what to expect, but we were really blown away with what they had.
TC: How do you feel about wrapping up your final year on the NDB team as a senior?
KS: It probably wasn’t the ending that I would have loved, because of [the] COVID [pandemic] and we only got to play three games. I’m super happy that we were able to get a season and that I got to play my senior year.
TC: You will be playing volleyball for Cal Poly SLO, but do you have any future plans for volleyball?
KS: I’m not really sure right now, but there is a possibility I get to play [volleyball] in graduate school. And if the time comes that I really want to, I think I’m open to that idea.
