Sophia Soliman, senior at Mercy High School, Burlingame

The Catalyst (TC): What is a typical day in your life like with online distance learning?

Sophia Soliman (SS): I wake up around 8 a.m. and I start class at 8:15 on Zoom. My school day ends at 2:30 p.m.

TC: Have you attended other school events on Zoom besides your classes?

SS: “I’ve done club meetings and I’ve done rallies.” For rallies on Zoom we have done Kahoots, and the winners got spirit points for their class. People had a lot of fun and dressed up, and I as well wore my class t-shirt.

TC: Is your school planning to return for the 2020-2021 year?

SS: We’re supposed to return at the beginning of second semester and have the Double Cohort plan, which is the Hybrid Model.

TC: What are your thoughts about your Senior year so far?

SS: “It’s been pretty uneventful. I haven’t really done much except stay at home and be on my computer all day, but hopefully it’ll get better.”
