Every year, NDB’s spirit events bring friendly competition between classes, sister classes and bring the whole school together to participate in these fun moments. You can feel NDB’s incredible school spirit during Aquacades or just on spirit days, because it just adds more energy and excitement that makes the school so special.
Throughout the school year, the school hosts many spirited events for all students to participate in. To name a few, there is the Dingbat Rally to celebrate halloween, the annual Aquacades spirit rally and Aquacades itself.
Whether it’s dressing up to get spirit points, or making a dance or swim routine to help your class win aquacades, each student has their own opinions on which events are the most fun, and which events are some that could use a little improvement.
Sophomore, Lily Roche, explains how her most favorite NDB spirit event is “aquacades [is my favorite] because I really like getting together with my friends and creating a routine. I just feel like it’s really fun and spirited.”
Aquacades is a very popular event and is looked forward to by all the students during the school year. It’s one of NDB’s best ways of showing how spirited every member of the community is, whether it is individually by class, or as the whole school together.
Roche also shares how she feels that spirit weeks are her least favorite spirit event at NDB throughout the year, because “sometimes the themes are really hard to participate in and I’m struggling to find an outfit.”
She says that to make spirit days a little more fun, she would like “[to be told the themes] a little more in advance, and also maybe different and more simple themes.” She explains how she knows it is fun for there to be unique themes, but it is not very fun if you don’t have anything to match the vibe, and are forced to wear your uniform.
Junior Chelsea Johnson, states that her favorite spirit event is the Dingbat rally because her favorite holiday is Halloween, and the Dingbat rally revolves around getting prepared for Halloween. “[It’s just] a super fun experience, and something that everyone should participate [in] or just be around to see it, because it is just something that only NDB has and something you can only see or do here,” Johnson said.
“My least favorite is probably the spirit week leading up to homecoming, because it’s kind of anti climatic, and it causes a lot of mix up during the week leading up to homecoming.” Johnson explains, “[to make homecoming spirit week more fun], we could have more events or activities during the days of the week.”
Overall, all of NDB’s annual spirit traditions always bring joy and lots of school spirit into the air, causing lots of excitement for all of the students.
