On Friday, October 31, students will parade into the Moore Pavilion for one of NDB’s longest-standing traditions: the Ding Bat Day rally. At this Halloween-themed event, students participate in games and compete against other classes, hoping to earn spirit points. This event is a highly anticipated part of the school year and brings the classes together in an exciting way.
In order to make the Ding Bat Day rally memorable and successful, a great deal of preparation is required. ASB works hard to ensure the event runs smoothly and that everyone has fun.
“There is a lot of planning overall,” said ASB Spirit Director Isabella Michael, when asked what kind of work goes into the rally. “Most of the work happens in meetings where we figure out what games we’re going to play, the themes and things like that.”
The games at the rally are only half the excitement. The cheer and pom teams put a lot of effort into preparing dances that will be performed at the rally as well.
“So, for the Ding Bat rally, we thought of our theme back in August, so that we were [sic] prepared. The dances – we’re gonna start this week … The music – we’re also doing this week,” said Cheer Captain Nikki Guinasso.
For the rally, the seniors on the team are the ones who lead the preparations.
“The captains all talk about what theme we wanted, the music and all that. So, this year, we chose the ‘Zombies’ movie as our theme. All the captains choreograph the dances and choose the music, too,” said Pom Captain Brooke True.
The Ding Bat Day rally is another opportunity for students to join together in an enthusiastic manner and bond with classmates. It unites the community and fosters a sense of spirit. With all the work that ASB and the cheer and pom teams put into it, it will be a good event for all.
