NDB’s Varsity flag football team kicked off their season to start on Wednesday, September 10, as they faced The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale. Players and coaches worked hard to prepare for the game by going over positioning and flag pulling.
In their rough battle against TKA, varsity came out with a loss, with the score being 22-0.
Sophomore Maddie Dang said that even though they lost, she still thinks the team collectively played well on both offense and defense.
Dang mentioned how their practices helped them prepare for this game a lot, “I feel like we definitely have [prepared more] through each practice, we have made our moves more precise, and we’ve just been more efficient. I feel like if we keep being consistent in our practices, we will start doing even better in games.”
Sophomore Stella Slezak describes their ideal practices, “scrimmaging and just practicing our positions, because it’ll just kind of simulate what we are going to be doing in a game.”
Slezak also shares her start of the season goals that she has set for herself, “I just want to try to do my best, especially in whatever position I get put in, since I don’t have a specific one, and there are so many different ones.”
The junior varsity’s first game was on Monday, September 15, at The King’s Academy against Woodside Priory. The team worked on running plays and also strengthening their connections before their preseason and season games began.
They ended their game with a loss by 14, with the score being 22-46.
As their season kicked off to a start, they worked hard and well and are looking forward to the upcoming games.
