With the fall season here and the new sports kicking off, volleyball has made some new changes to its coaching staff. Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity all have new coaches, ensuring major changes in the athletic department. With practices daily, games weekly, and tournaments starting, each team is facing major competition and kicked off the season quickly with many wins tucked under their belt.
Coaches Mark, Haliey, Monica, Owen, and Victoria are setting new goals, commitments, and strategies for the upcoming season. With Coach Mark and Hailey leading the varsity team, Coach Monica and Owen taking care of Junior Varsity, and Coach Victoria handling the freshman team, they are working together to ensure the creation of a new and superior volleyball department. New leaders coming in with different coaching experiences bring in diversity and new perspectives in leading the student athletes in competition.
Coach Hailey, the Varsity assistant coach, mentions that this season has been going well and she has adapted to the new school community. “I think I have loved everyone at the school, a few tough parents, but that comes with every school,” said Coach Hailey. “Everyone at NDB has been amazing, students and faculty, and I am excited to continue coaching the girls.”
Hailey’s goals for the team this season are mentioned, stating that, “Beyond the game, some values that I would want to instill in my players are confidence, time management, and problem-solving.”
As the varsity team has been working hard with practices every day, weights once a week, two games per week, and four different tournaments, they are happy to see their outcome in the number of games won so far in their season.
Junior Varsity is working just as hard, competing with many different schools in the league. They have been putting in the work and determination. Coach Monica is leading them with great advice, ensuring the development of new coaching skills.
Overall, with all the new coaches, the volleyball department is developing with new experienced leaders, leading the student athletes to better changes in the season.
