With the new 2025 school year beginning, many new changes to school policies and rules have been made. One major one that each student is experiencing is the phone ban policy. This has been in effect since the first day of school on August 18th. It requires each student to place their phone in a bin once they enter each classroom. Then, right as the bell rings, they are allowed to collect their phones for passing periods and lunch. Another new guideline is scanning in and out of locations for the new Block Eight period. This is to keep track of exactly where students are and to prevent them from leaving campus during this hour.
These new guidelines have been in effect since the first day of school and will continue for the rest of the school year. The no phone policy has been taking a little while for students to get used to, but over time, they have realized they can focus in class much better than before.
Senior Reagan Raff mentions the changes she sees around the campus, “This school year, there have been many changes, one big one is the no phone policy during classes. I kinda like the no phone policy during classes because it makes me focus better.” Raff also mentions, “Each year, there have been new changes making the school environment improve.”
Additionally, one policy that will be implemented for the new school year is scanning student IDs before students leave the classroom for collaboration. This is to manage students entering and exiting classrooms during this block. It is now called “Block 8” and has new guidelines.
Ultimately, these new additions are ensuring that the school is always looking to be better and finding new opportunities to ensure safety and prioritize the students’ learning.
