Some students took advantage of the long weekend by going to the lake, soaking up the last days of summer. Others stayed home, hosting cookouts, spending time outside with family and friends, and watching the start of college football season. Ella Leyte-Vidal, sophomore, said, “I had a soccer game, but after I came home with my mom, my sister and dad were barbecuing and we ate outside all together.”
A few students used the time to travel, whether it was visiting relatives out of town or going on a short road trip. Others focused on catching up with homework, preparing for upcoming tests, or working at their jobs. Senior Brooke True said, “I stayed home most of the weekend and used the extra time to work, and sleep, which was much needed.” and senior Gia River said, “My aunt always hosts a dinner at her house, so we went over and it was a lot of fun!”
Even though everyone celebrated slightly differently, the long weekend was a chance for students to take a break from their usual routines and spend time doing things they enjoy. Whether relaxing, working or celebrating, Labor Day gave students one last taste of summer before the school year gets into full swing.
