Starbucks is one of the most popular spots for people to grab their favorite drinks, from energizing coffees to refreshing teas. With so many choices on the menu, everyone has their own go-to order that keeps them coming back, whether it’s daily or just occasionally. To find out more, a few people were asked about their go-to drinks, and the answers were compared to see whether caffeine drinks or teas and refreshers came out on top.
“My personal favorite Starbucks drink is the matcha, especially on the mornings before school. It keeps me awake and energetic throughout the day, which is what I need for a long day at school,” said senior Julia Lewandowski. “I’m not too much of a fan of the refreshers unless it’s a hot and sunny day in the summer. Other than that, I get my matcha with cold foam.”
Matcha seems to be a popular choice among students who need an energy boost to get through their days. Still, not everyone feels the same way about other options. While some students turn to caffeine drinks, others enjoy options that feel less intense and easier to sip on.
“I prefer the strawberry açai refresher with no berries and water. I like it because it’s really light and refreshing, especially compared to coffee, which can feel heavy sometimes,” said junior Georgianna Drolapas. “Coffee also usually has a lot of sugar and can make me feel jittery, so I like the refresher more since it’s sweet without being too much. It feels more hydrating and something I can drink any time of day, not just in the morning.”
For students balancing sports, schoolwork, and other responsibilities, finding the right drink often comes down to choosing your favorite flavors and having the right amount of it.
“My go-to Starbucks drink is an iced oat milk brown sugar shaken espresso. It keeps me in good hands for the day, especially when I have a big assignment or test to do. I like that it’s not overly sweet but still has a warm flavor from the brown sugar, and the oat milk makes it feel a little smoother and lighter than regular milk,” sophomore Audrey Johnson shared. “It also gives me just the right amount of energy without feeling too jittery, which is perfect for staying focused. If I know I have a busy schedule ahead, that’s definitely the drink I rely on.”
Based on these interviews, it looks like caffeine drinks got the majority vote. This is because it gets people through the day and seems like the go-to drink. On the other hand, Starbucks’ refreshers and teas are light-flavored and hydrating, but don’t do the job as well as coffee does, especially for a long day.
