As we begin our descent into fall, it is always nice to have a handful of books to “fall” back on. Spending free time reading, rather than doom scrolling, is something that everyone would like to do, but often we cannot seem to find a book that really captures our attention. As the cozy season begins, here are a handful of books that are definitely worth reading this fall.
The heartbreaking love story by Delia Owens, “Where the Crawdads Sing” is a coming-of-age story that follows the main character, Kya Clark, who is known as the “Marsh Girl.” With a combination of nature, romance, suspense and an old style of writing, this book is perfect to get into the groove of reading.
For those intrigued by sci-fi fantasy, the “Shatter Me” series written by Tahereh Mafi depicts a futuristic world where society has practically failed and the government has all control, centering on the protagonist, Juliette Ferrars.
Something that is not so ordinary about this community is that people live with different powers. This 12-book series is sure to keep you up reading at night.
“The book includes lots of crazy twists,” said sophomore Caitlin Whitty. “Those twists kept me engaged and interested in the book. It is very well written.”
It is always nice to have a handful of books to be fully in the loop. A few more amazing reads are: “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” by V. E. Schwab, “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson and “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green. As we get deeper into the season, remember to put down your phone, and instead fall into a book.
