With the 2025 school year, NDB welcomes new Athletic Director Laura Gill. From managing coaches to choosing uniforms, she is excited to take on her role and transform the athletic program into something great. As fall sports have begun, she has been interacting with coaches and athletes, creating new relationships. Athletic directors have many different responsibilities and jobs that happen behind the scenes of the athletic games and events.
“I would say my job as athletic director is to be the visionary behind the program,” said Gill. “So all of the different initiatives that we get involved in are sort of under my purview. Managing the coaches is under my purview as well. And I kind of always say that when you think of an athletic director, it’s all the things you don’t really think about, like uniforms and officials and all of the things that really make the program sort of go, is what I do.”
Before coming to the NDB community, Luara was an athletic director at another all-girls school just inside the south side of Chicago. With her experience of working with an all-girls school, she brings many different important qualities to our program, such as being a hard worker, a good communicator, and a well-organized problem solver.
As an athletic director, Gill loves watching sports. “I am an absolute Die Hard Notre Dame football fan,” said Gill. “The best time of the year is anytime Notre Dame football is playing.” Gill also shared her dream job, saying, “My dream job would be to be a sports analyst. But if I weren’t an athletic director, I always wanted to be a teacher, and then I just sort of fell into this. And it like perfectly pairs everything that I love, which is sports and education. So if I can’t be a sports analyst, I want to be an athletic director.”
