On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Travis Kelce.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
This quote comes from the caption of her Instagram post. The post is paired with a snippet of the song ‘So Highschool’, which had been rumored to be about Kelce. She posted five pictures, all of them taken in Travis’ backyard in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
The couple has been dating since 2023, when Kelce went on his podcast ‘New Heights’ talking about Taylor and how he failed to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it during one of her Eras Tour Shows.
The announcement happened thirteen days after Swift’s appearances on Kelce’s podcast, where she announced her new album, Life Of A Showgirl. In this podcast episode, we finally get to see Taylor and Travis interacting as an actual couple, revealing some mindblowing things about the past. This shocked some people because Taylor isn’t really known for being so casual on social media, especially about her relationships. Whilst she was dating Joe Alwyn, they tried to keep it hidden as much as possible.
“It’s what she’s been working for her whole career, writing songs about her love life,” expressed Senior Elie Burchard, giving her opinion on the engagement and happiness for the couple. “It’s interesting that Travis Kelce’s American Eagle ad came out the day after. I think it’ll build more hype for the album, and it makes people more excited to hopefully get some crumbs about their personal relationship.”
We get a glimpse of Taylor’s ring. It seems to be an elongated, old mine cushion cut diamond set on a yellow gold band designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York. According to the New York Times, it marks a return to vintage elegance.
Sophomores Kaya Gerzek and Sophie Gupta also share their excitement. “She found love after so long of looking for it and writing so many songs and music about it,” Sophie said.
“I think it helps bring attention to her album.” Kaya shared. They both think that it’s not a coincidence that this was only thirteen days after Swift’s album announcement.
There hasn’t been any confirmation on a wedding date yet. It’ll probably be in 2026 after the football season has ended.
