With the senior Class of 2026 beginning to wrap up their four years at NDB, excitement is rising, and so are the nerves. Although many are anxious about college applications, there are countless school events that the Sharks are looking forward to.
This month, NDB hosted Senior Sunrise, where seniors watched the sun rise on their last first day of high school. They also participated in the Senior Splash, where they enjoyed snow cones and swam in the pool.
When talking about Senior Sunrise, senior Jeanne Dubuc said, “Seeing everyone again and being able to catch up with my friends and what they did over the summer was so nice, and I really missed talking to them. Also, I love watching the sunrise. So, that was fun.”
While senior year is one of the busiest and most crucial years in high school, as seniors have to balance classes and sports, maintain their grades and complete college applications, the entire class is buzzing with anticipation. It is important for the seniors to stay focused, but also explore lots of extracurriculars and have fun.
“I’m looking forward to finishing up my college apps and getting that out of the way,” said senior Hailey Truong. “Additionally, I’m looking forward to all the lasts, such as my last prom.”
Seniors are starting to realize just how far they have come and how little time they have left. Senior Claire Nguyen reflected on the feeling of finally wrapping up high school. “My favorite part of my last first month at school has been seeing my friends and slowly, but surely getting my college applications finished,” said Nguyen.
As they enter their last first month, they find themselves reflecting on their early high school years and the lessons they learned. Thinking about her experiences, Truong shared, “Take school seriously, but also find time to enjoy yourself. Soon enough, you’ll be a senior experiencing your ‘last firsts,’ wondering where all the time went, and you’ll wish you did more with the time you have. Try to live with no regrets.”
Seniors are looking forward to what is to come later on in the year, with whole school events such as Aquacades, homecoming and winter formal as well as senior-specific events such as prom, Senior Holiday and Senior Spotlight. As the year progresses, they are excited to get closer as a class and share every accomplishment, milestone and moment before they move on to the next chapter: College.
For now, they are content with living in the moment, making memories that will last a lifetime and working toward their goals.
