On Saturday, September 13th, the Rotary Club of San Mateo held their annual 2025 Rotary Car Show. This tradition took place at the College of San Mateo from 9 am to 3 pm to help raise money for student scholarships.
Admission into the event was free; however, local vendors were scattered throughout the venue. Their profit went towards the club’s scholarship program for students.
There are a variety of options to put money towards on the club’s website. Benefactors can choose to donate laptops, transportation, meal money, and more.
Officer Jeanine Luna attended the showing with the police department’s refurbished 1957 Plymouth Belvedere. Luna works for SMPD and believes the club designs these events to help uplift the Peninsula.
“San Mateo Rotary does a lot for the community, and I believe the funds raised from this car show will go to scholarships for students, and we’re big supporters at the police department of our youth”, said Luna.

Rotary member Mike Peterson shares that supporting the club is the same as supporting a fundraiser.
“For activities that we have, we give away, probably about $150,000 a year in financial aid, scholarships, for high school students to go to college,” said Peterson.
Peterson offers this lasting piece of advice for those interested in the organization.
“It’s about giving back to your community [through] time, service and resources. [To] give some time and effort to raise some money to young people like yourself who want to go on to college.
