After a long school year filled with homework, tests and early mornings, summer break is almost here. Sometimes, the hot, sticky, boring, long weeks of summer make it less enjoyable. Here is a guide to having the perfect summer break without being bored.
Junior Amelia Breckenridge shared what she does during the summer to pass the time.
“I have a house in Tahoe that I go up to every summer to celebrate the Fourth of July,” she stated. “I also celebrate my birthday with my friends and family during the summer.”
The most important part of summer break is relaxation. Without any plans, time can be spent by the pool, at the beach or outdoors with friends or family to soak up the sun and enjoy peaceful moments. Taking a nap, reading a book, gazing at the ocean or the grass or simply unwinding and being present in the moment can make summer more enjoyable.
Celebrating the Fourth of July is another exciting way to enjoy summer. Dressing up in festive colors, watching fireworks and visiting places like Lake Tahoe, San Francisco or Marin can help create lasting memories with loved ones.
Going to the beach is a crucial summer activity. Driving to Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, Santa Cruz or other coastal spots is a perfect way to spend the day. Sitting on the sand, playing beach volleyball or simply hanging out at the beach is a way to alway leave people feeling refreshed and happy.
Amusement parks are another fantastic way to spend a summer day. Great America in Santa Clara, Six Flags in Napa and local county fairs offer roller coasters, rides, games and delicious food for endless fun.
One of the most fulfilling ways to spend summer is by giving back to the community. Volunteering at an animal shelter, participating in a beach cleanup, working at a food bank or contributing to other local causes can be incredibly rewarding and help people feel more connected.
Another idea to make the most of summer break is to spend time with family. Since school is out, summer is the perfect time to slow down and make memories with family, including grandparents, siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Summer break is a time to relax, explore and make unforgettable memories. With so many exciting options, boredom is no longer a part of the summer experience. Whether traveling to new places, volunteering in the community or simply soaking up the sun, every moment of summer has the potential to be something special.
