On May 1st, the junior student class council took place in the dining hall and the new junior class council for the 2025-2026 school year was elected.
Students running for office showed off their creativity with colorful and creative campaign posters with their names and photos. Each candidate shared a 2-3 minute speech. The results of the newly elected council were revealed at the end of the day.
The junior class has appointed Cadence Golbirsch as the secretary-treasurer. Grace Enfield will take on the role of activities director, while Clarrisa Raposo serves as the spirit director. Emily Weisman is stepping up as the athletic director, and Caitlyn Mcabe will be the historian for the class. Chelsea Johnson is the junior vice president, and Sammy Kakala has been elected as the junior class president.
There weren’t that many people running this year compared to last year, so many people didn’t have an opponent running against them, which definitely relieved some stress on the candidates.
Cadence Goldblish, who ran for secretary-treasurer, shared her motivations and interest in this position.
“Last year I was vice president, so I wanted to switch it up, and I feel like Secretary would be a good position for me, because I am super organized and I like to take notes,” explained Goldblish.
She then emphasized her goals surrounding class spirit for next year.
“[One thing we could work on] is participation at rallies, high attendance for going to sports games, and having a little more spirit as a class,” shared Goldblish
Chelsea Johnson, who ran for spirit director, highlighted the most essential attribute of being a student leader.
“I think the most important thing is your leadership skills in the way that you’re able to connect with people and like your ability to connect with your class, just having that connection your class, just having that connection brings you together with the rest of the student body and everyone,” said Johnson
She also shared that she hopes to improve their class energy and enthusiasm.
“I’m hoping this year to bring more positivity to the class and to just bring more energy, to make everyone feel more positive and to really bring together ideas with the classes,” explained Johnson.
Both candidates exude a strong sense of confidence in their objectives and the opportunities that lie ahead for the coming year. They are determined to make a meaningful impact in their respective roles, believing firmly in the difference they can create now that they have been elected.
