After four years of teaching and building connections with the senior class, it is time for the NDB staffulty to say their final goodbye to the Class of 2025 Monarchs.
In high school, one of the most important relationships is between students and teachers. Luckily, at NDB, many seniors have become incredibly close with the staffulty over the last four years.
Senior Class Coordinator Kate Mahoney shared about the transformation she’s witnessed from the class that she has become so close with.
“I’ve seen a lot of growth from everyone in the last four years … coming in shy, timid … and just to see … the confidence that everyone has. I’m definitely confident that they will go off and do good things,” shared Mahoney.
While seniors are getting more and more excited for graduation as it looms closer, this feat also means leaving their favorite NDB teachers, and for teachers to say goodbye to the seniors that they have come to know very well.
“They’re a great class, you know, I’m gonna miss you guys,” expressed Math Department Chair Jennifer Walton. “There’ll be a big hole left by … the disappearance of the class. … It’s always bittersweet for seniors when they graduate. But I’m always excited to see what’s up next.”
A very significant part of staffulty’s job is to thoroughly prepare students for their next steps after high school. NDB teachers have been working hard to ensure their students feel ready for college, and now that this time has arrived for the Monarchs, Humanities teacher Jonathon Tomczak reflects on their newfound readiness for their lives ahead.
“They are as prepared as anyone can be. You know, the thing about life is that you never know the specifics of what awaits you. You just trust that you have the relevant skills, maturity and knowledge to deal with unique situations. And I think this class has demonstrated all of that,” shared Tomczak.
Mahoney also relays the energy leaving the atmosphere with the monarchs parting ways with NDB.
“In terms of, coming back from COVID and getting back into our normal routines with Aquacades and all the fun events and everything like that…the spirit that they brought through with them, to all of those events, I think, will definitely be missed for sure,” she added.
The NDB staffulty has devoted so much time to all of their students, whether that be building connections, preparing lessons or anything else they spend time on in order to inspire academic growth. Now it is time for the Monarchs to take the product of their teachers’ devotion and incorporate it into the next stages of their lives.
“I think everybody, I love everybody’s personality in just the whole vibe… they have such good energy. I know I’m gonna miss everybody, but I wish everybody well in college and beyond,” said Walton, as a final expression of appreciation to the graduating class.
While the Class of 2025 will be sad to part ways with the teachers they have known as a constant for the last four years, the Monarchs are now ready to take their next steps outside of NDB.
