Paris Baguette is a cafe chain that originated from South Korea. It was founded in November 1986 by Hur Young-in. Paris Baguette hopes to open more than 100 places in North America this year. In 2024, Paris Baguette opened up 51 new locations which was doubled from the previous year. By 2030, Paris Baguette hopes to have 1,000 stores across North America.
I went to the Paris Baguette location in San Carlos. Other locations around the area include Millbrae and South San Francisco. I have been to the one in San Mateo numerous times, and every time I go the cafe is very clean. The tables, chairs, and other amenities are all cleared and there is no trash left or food crumbs. Even though I went in the afternoon, there were still a variety of pastries to choose from. Other bakeries and cafes do not often keep their spaces well-kept, which shows the dedication of Paris Baguette to keep their spaces clean.
The pastries I chose were the Coconut Mochi Donut, Fruit Pastry, Very Berry pastry, and the Ham and Cheese Pastry. The coconut mochi donut is powdered and has bits of coconut, which is $4.59. The coconut taste was not very strong, but it still had an appetizing flavor. My rating for this dessert is a 9/10, because I wish the coconut flavor was stronger. The Fruit Pastry is $5.39 and the Very Berry Pastry is $4.79. Both were similar, as both desserts had fruits and custard cream. I personally enjoyed the fruit pastry more because it also has soft custard cream, while the Very Berry pastry has lemon cream.
Overall, I give the fruit pastry a 10/10 and the very berry pastry a 9/10. The last pastry I had was the Ham and Cheese Pastry which is $5.39. This pastry is definitely my go-to pastry because it can be eaten for breakfast or as a snack. However, I wish the pastry had more ham because inside there is a slim piece of it. For the Ham and Cheese pastry, I would rate it a 9.5/10 as it is a simple yet appetizing pastry.
Junior Cameron Howes works at Paris Baguette and shared more insight on her experience. “I like how all of our customers are so nice and I like working here because the pastries are really good and I get to connect with people in the community.” shared Howes. “[Paris Baguette] is different from other cafés because we have a lot of variety in our pastries and our coffee is different normally.”
Many students at NDB enjoy Paris Baguette as it is a great spot to meet up and eat the delicious pastries.
Paris Baguette offers a variety of pastries for their customers. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone who loves sweet treats such as cakes or donuts. Paris Baguette can fit for any occasion from birthday parties or to a simple meeting. This cafe definitely deserves admiration as it offers clean amenities and high quality foods.
