Taco Bell is everywhere. You see the giant purple bell, its logo, on every major street or in places you wouldn’t expect there to be one. It’s a very popular chain restaurant, with its famous ‘Baja Blasts’ taking the world by storm. But nestled in California’s very own Pacifica is a special Taco Bell: the Taco Bell Cantina.
At first look, the Cantina may look like a normal Taco Bell, but once inside, it’s a completely different story. It has a bar with special drinks, not just alcoholic beverages but unique freeze flavors too. There is a patio in the back with lots of outdoor seating, looking out at the ocean behind it. To add a local touch, there is sand everywhere in the restaurant, which adds to the whole experience of the Cantina.
To start, we ordered the iconic Baja Blast freeze, and the Cantina has a special $9 version. Unfortunately, we did not get to try it, but it looked delicious. I will definitely be trying it next time I go!
The steak and queso mini crunch wraps were a new item we ordered. They were delicious and would be a good snack to have. The steak was cooked well, and it was hot when we received it, which was perfect since the outside where we were sitting was quite chilly.
Nacho fries were also on the menu, an item that has been removed from certain stores. I was very excited to see the fries listed since I love them and haven’t had them on the menu in a while. The seasoning is balanced well and the fries offer a different taste than most fries on the market. If you haven’t tried them yet, I recommend you do because it’s certainly a unique flavor.
“I had the burrito supreme,” says Autumn Deetz-Rogriuez. “I enjoyed it. It’s what I get every time I go to Taco Bell.” The burrito supreme is a soft burrito filled with meat, cheese, beans, and all the classic inclusions. “If you’re willing to come down to Pacifica, it’s right on the beach and it’s really nice to get some friends together to get some Taco Bell and hang out at the beach after.”
The Cantina is in a great location and lends itself to a natural day out at the beach.
