InterSession is just around the corner, taking place from February 18 through 21. This is a time when NDB students can dive into a multiple-day course of their choice and explore new interests, develop valuable skills and discover their passions. Each year, NDB offers a diverse range of immersive activities for students to select from.
Peninsula Hikes is one of the many classes being offered and is operated by Mathematics teacher Travis Lucian. Students will see a sampling of Bay Area hikes to inspire a greater appreciation for nature and its positive impacts on our well-being. During the adventures, students will have time to get off the trail to reflect on their experience. They will gather at the hiking trailheads, rain or shine. This class is tailored for dedicated hikers.
Sophomore Sophie Hu is attending Bay Area hikes and shared her perspective on why she chose the class.
“I personally love hiking so much. It brings me so much joy and it like unstresses all of my stress. So, I think just doing a week of hiking would really heal myself,” said Hu.
Another class offered is Culinary Discovers. The lead instructors are teachers Annmarie Papp and Elizabeth Neapolitan. During this course, students will learn to make complete meals and dine with companion chefs. They will also take a trip to Table of Plenty, which was founded by a Sister of Notre Dame. Neapolitan hopes students will learn how to connect and serve the community while having fun.
Whether students are learning a new skill or spending time doing something they love, InterSession is bound to create new memories.
