As a school tradition, Crab and Casino Night continues to be an important fundraiser, strengthening the NDB community and supporting future athletic endeavors.
On February 8, NDB’s Crab and Casino Night brought the community together for a fun evening supporting NDB athletics. The event featured a Cioppino dinner by the Dooley Family, lively music, dancing and exciting casino games.
This year was particularly special as the Dooley Family alumni returned to cater after a long absence. They had started the tradition while their daughter was an NDB student.
“Yes, this is the first year they are back catering in quite some time, which is really exciting,” expressed Assistant Athletic Director Patsy Iannone.
The Dooley family’s involvement brought the event back to its roots, making the night even more meaningful.
Organized by Iannone and Athletic Director Christina Okubo, the event required extensive planning and help.
Student volunteers played a key role in the evening’s success. According to NDB junior Katie Moorhead, volunteering was a chance to give back.
“I feel great about contributing to Notre Dame athletics. I have played three sports here, and I feel like extra funding is definitely worth working for,” expressed Moorhead.
Annual attendee and NDB parent and alumna Liz Stapleton Zerella ’95 also shared her excitement surrounding Crab and Casino.
“…There’s a great energy in the room, and people are having a really fun time supporting the athletics department,” said Zerella. “It’s about supporting our sports teams. Empowering girls to participate in the sports that they love to do. Perfect.”
As a cherished tradition, Crab and Casino Night continues to bring the community together in support of NDB athletics.
