On Thursday, December 5, the NDB Moms Club held its annual Jingle & Mingle Holiday Party & Boutique from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Parents, staffulty and alumnae enjoyed a mix of festive foods and activities in the dining room to get them excited for the holidays.
Tickets cost $25 per person for parents and alumnae and $40 for two people. Thirty local vendors sold items such as bubbly, beer, desserts, clothing, jewelry and wine.
“This is my second year [attending], and it’s always fun meeting and talking to the people selling stuff, and [I like seeing] the creative aspect that goes into their work. And I like to get into their minds and just get to know their creative side,” said NDB mom Sharon Deetz-Rodriguez.
The event required an exorbitant amount of planning by Jingle & Mingle Committee Co-Chairs and NDB moms Cori McGlynn and Anita Kennon, which included organizing the vendors, working with Epicurean for food options and decorating the dining room to ensure there was a holiday atmosphere.
“[Jingle and Mingle is] a wonderful event, it brings the community together,” said McGlynn. “We try to bring in the parents of the students, the alumni and even the community, to all come together and kick off the holiday season. It’s a warm environment where we just try to say it’s time to start the holiday season and let’s do some shopping and get together and socialize.”
Staffulty members were in attendance and spent their time catching up with co-workers and meeting parents and alumnae while some students volunteered with registration.
“I think it gets everyone in the holiday spirit, especially [because] there’s alumni and they get to see each other again and just like, connect, and you can go see different booths and listen to Christmas music and it just gets everybody excited,” said freshman Audrey Cooper, who has volunteered for the last two years because her dad runs the Velvet 48 wine booth.
Whether it was through shopping or socializing, Jingle & Mingle allowed attendees to celebrate the holiday season alongside the NDB and Belmont communities.
