With the soccer season underway, students are getting settled into their teams and starting games. The 2024-2025 soccer season also comes with a fun-filled event highlighting past players, the NDB alum soccer game! NDB hosted its alumni soccer game so that alumni soccer players of NDB could come to remember their time at high school through the sport they love.

The alum soccer game offered alum soccer players a chance to play soccer again with and/or against each other, which was a great opportunity for the alum to remember their high school years and travel back to the past for a while!

“I am very excited for the alum soccer game,” said athletic director Christina Okubo. “It was really important for me to bring it back this year because we’ve gotten a lot of requests to bring it back the past couple of years we haven’t had it…I used to play in it back in the day, when I played soccer here…We actually have a very good group that have already signed up…There are a few students who are coming back that I worked with when I was working in the training room here, so I’m excited to see them back on the field.”

It is important to recognize the people from the past, and this alum soccer game does just that. It gives a chance for NDB to acknowledge previous soccer Tigers and give them a chance to remember the sport they played.

“I was so excited to play today,” said Hope Goblirsch, class of 1992, on playing in the alumni soccer game. “I still play on an over-30 league…[so] I still play a little. I would say my favorite memory was getting close to those girls that were on your team for four years.”

This game allowed the past to be brought back to the present, and the alum soccer players on the field once again did just that!
