Christmas is considered the most wonderful time of the year, as it allows people to enjoy time with their loved ones and have a relaxing break from school. With this holiday comes many activities for people to participate in, including trips to the snow, time with family and friends, and much more. One local activity that is very popular within the community is visiting Eucalyptus Street.
This is a famous street in San Carlos that is well-known for the decorations that all houses put out during the Christmas season to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. The houses are decorated from “head to toe,” as the glistening lights engulf the houses along the street. Each year, hundreds of people visit the street to get glimpses of the Christmas spirit with family and friends.
While this street is an enjoyable holiday activity, it is difficult even to get close to it when Christmas time comes around. The large crowds make traffic much slower than usual, so many attendees must park far away.
With this, although parking and walking down the street is preferable, some choose to continue driving along the road, which can be easier and give someone a grand experience of Eucalyptus Street and its beauty. Whether people drive or walk, it can be enjoyed in many ways, as its Christmas vibe is evident to many people who choose to view it.
“We try to make it a tradition [to visit Eucalyptus Street],” said junior Gabby Goldfarb. “There is a house midway through the street and they have a Jeep and they make the Jeep into a sleigh and they put reindeer in the air. It’s really cool.”
With the stress of finals approaching, many people look to escape by relaxing on the street. Each house on Eucalyptus Street offers different decorations to the overall experience. One house has a lot of Hello Kitty around the house, while another house has a full-size car with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and their reindeer carrying the car into the night.
Two houses always go all-out with the lighting, covering their houses completely. Whether it is the number of lights or the fact that they are right next to each other, the houses are impossible to miss due to the sheer number of decorations on both their houses and lawns.
There are many other memorable houses, which is a big reason people cannot wait until Christmas time to see this street in action once again.
“Yes, it’s so pretty down there,” commented junior Cherie Gilbert about Eucalyptus Street. “My favorite house is the one with the big tree and all the lights.”
Eucalyptus Street is certainly not a street to be missed during the most wonderful time of the year, as it showcases the beauty of Christmas and the happiness the decorations can ultimately bring many people, as a large turnout is always recognized.
