There are many diverse traditions that are celebrated during the holiday season, so it is important to hear different holiday traditions. Katherine Blanchard shares her Christmas traditions as one of NDB’s world’s language teachers.
TC: What are your favorite Christmas traditions that your family does during the holidays?
KB: “I always host Christmas Ev,e which is really fun, we play a lot of games, most of my family comes so I really enjoy that.”
TC: Why is this tradition important to you?
KB: “Just seeing my family, my older daughter comes home from college …it’s just nice for everybody to come together.”
TC: Does your family open presents on Christmas or Christmas eve?
KB: “We usually do both. Sometimes, we’ll exchange with our immediate family on Christmas Eve and then on Christmas da,y we’ll do presents with relatives and extended family.”
TC: In your opinion, when is the appropriate time to start decorating for Christmas?
KB: “As I get older I don’t care quite as much, but I think it’s gotta be after Thanksgiving.”

TC: What are your favorite Christmas traditions that your family does during the holidays?
RT: “Going to my cousins house on Christmas Eve and then going to my grandparents house on Christmas day.”
TC:Why is this tradition important to you ?
RT: “ Because I get to see all of my family and cousins”.
TC: Does your family open presents on Christmas or Christmas Eve?
RT: “Both..on my dads side we open them on Christmas Eve and then on my moms side we open then on Christmas Day.”
TC: In your opinion, when is the appropriate time to start decorating for Christmas?
RT: “Um..I would say after Thanksgiving.”
It is essential to recognize all traditions, and keeping traditions alive within your family and friends is a fun way to keep the holidays festive.
