The holidays are a huge time of year all around the world. Here in the Bay Area, with the diversity of cultures and ethnicities, the different celebrations and events for the holiday season are endless.
Christmas in the Bay Area is definitely one of the biggest holidays. Specifically in San Francisco, the choices are infinite when trying to find a festive thing to do with your weekend. An event that is widely known and loved is the ballet Nutcracker performance which is displayed all throughout December at the War Memorial Opera House.
When looking for something a bit more interactive in the city, visiting the ice skating rink in Union Square is always a fun time for friends and family to get together and listen to holiday music as well as to see the sites of San Francisco. Visiting restaurants and cafes are always a must, especially since the winter menus include all the favorite holiday flavors of peppermint and pumpkin.
For those more local to Half Moon Bay, the annual Lighted Boat Festival is always a fun way to see holiday lights displayed on the water at night. Half Moon Bay is also the hot spot for any and all Christmas tree farms. Many visit Lemos Farm, which is perfect for kids with its petting zoo and train ride. For those only looking for a nice farm grown christmas tree, Santa’s Tree Farm and Village is the place to visit.
With the abundance of these options and many more, the possibilities for activities are endless, giving the Bay Area a lively atmosphere during the holidays.
